Joe Burke was born on February 28th, 1984 in Toledo, Ohio. At the age of eight years old, Joe, along with his uncle Bob, brother Dusty, and the rest of his family, made his first short film titled "The Camper man And The Lost Boy". Since that memorable experience, Joe hasn't been able to put the camera down. Growing up, Joe constantly made one short film after another, always with the help from his younger brother and friends. Joe also had an interest in acting. At the age of 13 he began performing on stage at the Children's Theater Workshop in Toledo, OH, and had the opportunity to act in such shows as "Aladdin", and "Charlottes Web". At the same time, Joe decided to teach himself magic. After a few years of self-practice, Joe decided to take his magic skills out to the public. At the age of 15, Joe got a weekly gig at the Outback Steakhouse in Toledo, performing close-up table magic every Saturday night for the next three years. Performing at the restaurant opened up many doors for Joe, and allowed him more opportunities to perform his magic at birthday parties, offices parties, and other events in the community. Joe attended Southview High School in Sylvania, OH. While attending Southview, Joe decided to get involved with the theater department. He performed in 15 different productions in his four years of high school, including such shows as "Charley's Aunt", "Harvey", "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Mouse That Roared", "June Groom", and "The Wiz." In the beginning of Joe's senior year, he was selected by the students and faculty to direct an original musical, "SupeReview 2002", with a cast size of 100 students. At the end of his senior year, Joe was award ed "Director's Choice", an honor given to only one student a year. After graduating high school, Joe decided to apply to Columbia College Chicago as a theater major. In the fall of 2002 he began his college career at Columbia College. Joe enjoyed the theater scene, but after only 3 semesters, he decided to switch his major from theater to film. Joe recently graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a B.A. in Film. He plans on continuing to build his independent film production company, Elantra Films L.L.C. and looks forward to directing his first feature film in the near future.
